Event Overview

The semiconductor sector is often at the center of international regulatory disputes and supply chain insecurity. Actions affecting company access or approval status can escalate commercial and technological uncertainty, amplify trade tensions, and foster strategic mistrust among nations. Such policy moves exemplify broader themes of geopolitical competition, market intervention, and the fragility of globally-integrated high-tech industries shaped by transnational dependencies.

China Responds to US Removal of Three Semiconductor Firms from 'Validated End-User' List
2025-08-30 23:31

On August 30, the spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce responded to questions regarding the US Department of Commerce's removal of Intel Semiconductor (Dalian) Co., Ltd., Samsung China Semiconductor Co., Ltd., and SK Hynix Semiconductor (China) Co., Ltd. from the 'Validated End-User' list on August 29. The spokesperson stated that China is aware of the situation and emphasized that semiconductors are a highly globalized industry formed by decades of development and market forces. The spokesperson criticized the US action as self-serving and an instrumentalization of export controls, asserting it would have significant adverse effects on the stability of the global semiconductor industry and supply chain. China expressed opposition to this move, urged the US to correct what it called a mistake, and stated that China would take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises.
