China's AEP100 Hydrogen Fuel Engine Completes First Test Flight

On April 4, the AEP100, a megawatt-class hydrogen fuel turboprop engine independently developed by the Hunan Power Machinery Research Institute of AECC, successfully completed its first test flight. The engine was installed on a 7.5-ton unmanned transport aircraft and flew for 16 minutes, covering a distance of 36 kilometers at a speed of 220 kilometers per hour and an altitude of 300 meters. The flight took place at Lusong Airport in Zhuzhou, and the engine operated normally, making the first flight a complete success.
