Netanyahu biggest obstacle to regional peace, says Erdogan at OIC meeting
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the biggest obstacle to regional peace and accused him and his government of not wanting any diplomatic resolution to issues in the region. Erdogan made these remarks during a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul on Saturday, where he addressed Arab League diplomats. He also claimed that Israeli attacks on Iran, occurring just before a new round of nuclear talks with the United States, were aimed at sabotaging those negotiations. Erdogan accused Western leaders of offering unconditional support to Israel and said that Turkiye would not allow borders in the Middle East to be 'redrawn in blood'. He called for solidarity to end what he described as Israel's banditry in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran. The OIC is a 57-member organisation founded in 1969 to protect the interests of the Muslim world.
