500 Rounds Fired in CDC Shooting After Suspect Stole Father’s Guns
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), a mass shooting occurred at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) campus in Atlanta, Georgia, resulting in the death of DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose. The shooting followed an incident in which Patrick Joseph White, a resident of Cobb County, allegedly stole firearms from his father.
Investigators estimated that around 500 rounds were discharged during the exchange of gunfire. Reports indicate that White had previously voiced opposition to the COVID-19 vaccine. On the day of the shooting, White’s father reportedly made multiple 911 calls expressing concern that his son was the gunman.
Multiple agencies responded to the active shooter emergency at the CDC. White, armed with several firearms, engaged in prolonged gunfire with law enforcement personnel. Officer Rose was fatally wounded during the confrontation, and White was ultimately killed at the scene.
Following the tragedy, GoFundMe campaigns were launched to support Officer Rose’s family, with donations rapidly surpassing stated goals. The CDC acknowledged that some employees, in the aftermath, directed frustrations toward political figures such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former President Donald Trump.
Authorities continue to investigate the shooter’s motives and the full timeline of events, but confirmed the attack was intentional and carried out with stolen weapons and extensive firepower.
