Iran Calls on Europe to Make a "Correct Choice" After Nuclear Talks in Geneva
On the evening of August 26, a new round of nuclear issue talks between Iran and the United Kingdom, France, and Germany concluded in Geneva. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi stated on social media that during the talks, both sides clarified their views regarding United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231. He emphasized that Iran remains committed to seeking a mutually beneficial diplomatic solution through diplomatic channels. Gharibabadi said, "Now is the time for the three European countries and the UN Security Council to make the correct choice and give diplomacy time and space." On the same day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei reiterated Iran's position on the "snapback sanctions" mechanism, stating that the UK, France, and Germany show contradictions in their stance on Iran's nuclear issue: on one hand claiming a desire to negotiate, while on the other insisting on imposing what Iran calls illegal sanctions and taking confrontational measures against Iran. Baghaei added that diplomatic channels to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue would never be closed and Iran would accept dialogue and negotiations as long as they align with Iran's national interests, but stressed that Iran would not succumb to any threats or pressure.
