Kazakhstan to Join Abraham Accords, Bolstering U.S.-Led Framework
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is expected to announce his country's joining of the Abraham Accords during a meeting with President Trump. This move, despite existing diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Israel, aims to bolster the U.S.-led framework for cooperation between Israel and Arab and Muslim nations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu in Washington on June 12. President Tokayev will visit the White House for a summit with Trump and leaders of five Central Asian, majority-Muslim countries. The White House aims to further this agenda and build momentum for the Abraham Accords before Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Washington on November 18.
