Microsoft Secures US Export Licenses to Ship 60,000 Nvidia AI Chips to UAE
2025-11-04 16:05

Microsoft has secured US export licenses to ship over 60,000 advanced NVIDIA AI chips, including the GB300 Grace Blackwell chips, to data centers in the United Arab Emirates. The approval was granted in September with strict safeguards. This deal is part of a larger investment by Microsoft, which is investing $15.2 billion in technology in the UAE. The UAE's access to these chips is contingent on its commitment to invest $1.4 trillion in U.S. energy and AI projects. The UAE ambassador to the U.S., Yousef Al Otaiba, stated that a new arrangement sets a 'Gold Standard' for securing AI models, chips, and data. The approval led to a 2% increase in Nvidia's stock. Microsoft has already acquired over 21,000 of Nvidia's GPUs through licenses in the UAE.
