Six shot, one killed in mass shooting in Northwest Baltimore
A mass shooting occurred on Saturday evening in Baltimore's Park Heights neighborhood. Police officers responded around 8:45 p.m. to the area of Spaulding and Queensbury avenues, where they found six victims with gunshot wounds. According to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, the victims included four men, a woman, and a young child.
The group was sitting outside on their porch and near a car, eating, when an unknown assailant began shooting. Jerome Michael Coateson, 38, was found in critical condition and was pronounced dead on Sunday morning. The other victims were identified as a 23-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 52-year-old man, and a 5-year-old girl who was shot in the hand and is expected to recover. The other survivors are also expected to survive their injuries.
Homicide and District Detective units, along with Baltimore City Fire and EMS services, responded to the scene. Police believe the shooting was targeted. No suspects have been identified as of yet, and detectives are seeking information from victims and witnesses. An $8,000 reward is being offered for information, with tips accepted via the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line or website.
