U.S. and India Agree on Provisional Trade Deal Framework
2026-02-07 08:14

The U.S. and India have agreed on a provisional trade deal framework, reaffirming their commitment to broader bilateral trade negotiations initiated by Presidents Trump and Modi in February 2025. The agreement includes enhanced market access commitments. India will reduce or eliminate tariffs on U.S. industrial, food, and agricultural products. In return, the U.S. will impose an 18% 'reciprocal tariff' on certain Indian goods, including textiles, apparel, leather, footwear, plastics, rubber, organic chemicals, home decor, handicrafts, and some machinery.
