US OFAC Permanently Lifts Sanctions on Belarusian Airline Belavia
The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has permanently lifted sanctions on Belavia, the Belarusian national airline, by removing it from the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list. This action, effective November 4, allows US entities and individuals to conduct business with Belavia, including its VIP government aircraft. OFAC also confirmed the tentative suspension of sanctions on Belavia, effective in early September 2025, which had already permitted certain transactions. Additionally, OFAC lifted sanctions on a specific Challenger 850 aircraft operated by Belavia for the government and issued a general license to suspend sanctions on three other Belavia-operated aircraft. The Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) continues to sanction the B737-800 (BBJ) aircraft and prohibits Belavia from operating its other Boeing aircraft, including the B767-300ER, to Russia and other countries.
