SpaceX Falcon 9 Launches New Batch of Starlink Satellites from California
2025-08-14 21:07

On August 14, 2025, SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a new batch of Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. A camera mounted to the first stage of the rocket captured views looking back toward Earth during the late-night launch. The Falcon 9's upper stage, powered by a single Merlin engine, was on track to reach its planned orbit and deploy the satellites about an hour after liftoff. The rocket’s first stage, Booster 1093, completed its fifth flight and landed on the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You" in the Pacific Ocean. All missions flown by this booster have been dedicated to growing SpaceX's megaconstellation. This launch marked SpaceX’s 98th Falcon 9 mission of 2025, the 516th Falcon 9 flight since 2010, the 452nd reuse of a Falcon 9 first stage, and the 487th landing.
